| The Presbyterian Women group is open to all women of all ages who choose to participate in or be supportive of PW in any way. Presbyterian Women (PW) is an independent organization within the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) of more than 300,000 women. The programming and resource options for the organization offer a variety of ways for women to live out their faith in an inclusive, caring community. Women's groups in the Presbyterian Church have a powerful history. Since the early 1800s Presbyterian women have organized themselves to support mission and combat social injustices nationally and internationally. While the denominations has varied, women's dedication to living out God's call through women's organizations has remained steady. PW celebrated it's 20th anniversary in 2008. As long as there have been women, there have been women's organizations in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and it's predecessor denominations. Presbyterian Women came into formal existence on July 15, 1988 with the merger of United Presbyterian Women (UPCUSA) and Women of the Church (PCUS), following the reunion of the church. |
